#ImNoAngel is the latest and greatest hash tag ever
Your going to see that hashtag in a lot of my personal blog posts. I just love it.
and skinny shaming – It has gone on too long. From public school right up to high school and further. My best friend “fat shamed” me when I was in high school, in public school you seemed to be put in a certain group. Not sure why I ever put up with it, but back then you just wanted to fit in. When I look back at my photos, I saw a way slimmer version of me. But I let someone else tell me I was FAT. And it stuck, and I never felt good about myself. Sure my hips were big (Doctor told me they were child bearing hips) Thanks Doc! And I have thunder thighs but that is OK. When bad health set in, I made a conscience decision to make some changes to lifestyle and how I eat. It was NOT because someone told me I was fat. But heck it is a long journey. As soon as I hit menopause it was like a speed bump. Who knew it would play havoc with every part of my life. Right now I am going through a Bio Identical Program to get myself normal again. Anyone who knows about Men – OOOOO – Pause can tell you the same thing. You think your life is going to be awesome when your periods stop, but then the hormone fairy comes a long and says..hey lets mess with these girls. Weight gain, sleeping problems, night sweats, day sweats, mood swings..oh the list is long. Would love to hear what it is like for you.
One minute you are boiling over, sweat dripping down your face and then it stops. Some women are worse than others, my poor Mother had sweats right through to her 70’s. And you can go from angel to demon in five seconds with those every loving mixed up hormone mood swings. It ain’t easy being a woman. Well onto what this subject is about and that is body shape, what society feels we SHOULD look like. I was always big busted as a young woman, and remember wearing bras that looked like they were put through pencil sharpeners. Come on ladies you can relate. All we had back then was Sears and the boxed bras. Try finding something sexy in those boxes!! When I moved to a border town, I kept hearing women talk about Lane Bryant. OMG have you ever been there? Oh Canada, we need you here in Windsor, Ontario. The bras are amazing!! My niece visited from England one year and I took her over there. Her hands got shaky when she saw the variety, the sizes, the colors and the choices.
OK, I am on a weight loss journey but I love their clothing line and until I am in a size 12, THIS is the place to go. Try to find anything really nice for summer in Plus size 16+. I became a fan of the store and told so many other women who were looking for Plus size clothing, or hard to find bra sizes. What I now LOVE about Lane Bryant and their promotion is how they are showing women in a better light. All shapes and sizes, and scars as well. And they are all healthy looking women. #ImNoAngel is basically a parody of Victoria’s secret campaign. But this is for all women, with curves and not afraid to show them. It is NOT skinny shaming, it is just showing the other side of the coin as I would like to call it.
According to the press release, the campaign is set to run on television, in print, on billboards and public transportation, as well as in Lane Bryant stores and on the company’s social media channels. “Our ‘#ImNoAngel‘ campaign is designed to empower ALL women to love every part of herself,” Lane Bryant CEO and president, Linda Heasley, said in a statement. “Lane Bryant firmly believes that she is sexy and we want to encourage her to confidently show it, in her own way.”
