The Opioid Crisis has killed more people than the Vietnam War. Think about that for a minute. Shocking videos of parents at the wheel of a car, with their child in the back seat. A child crying in a store beside her collapsed mother.
And finally in 2007 Purdue Pharma admits guilt
Why can’t it stop? Money, lots of money. The amount of opioids that Pharmaceutical companies promote to doctors who then give to their patients equates to billions of dollars. Watching the video “Warning this Drug will kill you” is just a glimpse of some of the patients. One patient told the interviewer that she went through a months prescription in 2 days. And getting more was not a problem. She honestly felt that because her family Doctor was prescribing them, that it was OK. She never thought for one minute that she was turning into an addict. And when her Doctor stopped prescribing, cold turkey, she turned to friends who would sell it to her. That is when the more dangerous drugs came into her life – Heroin.
This is just one story out of the millions of victims. Victims of drug addiction, that started with the family doctor. My own sister was killed by her family doctor and nothing was done. She was prescribed a Fentanyl patch and it killed her through an overdose. She had bunion surgery and THIS is what the doctor prescribed.
If addiction was not bad enough, addicts get pregnant and their babies are addicted at birth.
Baby addicts – born with drugs in their veins.
In the USA they say that there is a baby born every half hour that is addicted at birth. These babies are not just given a diet of milk, they have to be given methadone to wean them off of the drugs. Can you imagine the pain that these children feel when they are born with crippling addictions. Even when they are weaned off of drugs, Doctors say that the addiction is passed through generations.
The number of babies born addicted to drugs in the United States has quadrupled in the last decade, new figures reveal.
This video is the hardest to watch. Heroin babies
It starts with family doctors prescribing opioid drugs after operations or accidents. There is no discussion about addiction, and patients keep returning for bigger prescriptions over time. Some patients have faked injuries so that they can be prescribed more. The opioid crisis starts with Pharmaceutical companies who are legal drug pushers. They encourage Doctors to prescribe them. When Doctors see possible addiction, they cut their patients off and then they go to the street to buy whatever they can. Most of them are lead to Heroin. When the public says get the drug dealers off the street they have to realise that the source is big Pharma. Dry up the source. Heavier penalties should be given to Doctors who are prescribing large amounts of addictive drugs.
According to this article by the Windsor Star:
The college began investigating high levels of opioid prescribing after the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care — concerned about an opioid epidemic — highlighted 84 doctors for review. The health ministry used data collected from its Narcotics Monitoring System from Jan. 1, 2015 to Dec. 31, 2015.
The college has completed investigations into 81 of the 84 doctors. Cameron is the only one to face a disciplinary hearing, though some other doctors were directed to follow such steps as taking prescribing courses, prescribing under supervision and relinquishing some prescribing privileges.
Prescribing courses? Only one faced a disciplinary hearing?
“Being an advocate for patients means acting in a patient’s best interest and not exposing patients to potential harm.”
Yet, Medical Cannabis patients feel they are being let down by their family doctors. They want to get off of pain killers and other opioids. But their doctors say they do not have the training or do not feel comfortable prescribing Cannabis. Yet there are hundreds of Cannabis clinics that have doctors who spend less than 5 minutes via video call to prescribe Cannabis to patients. Where do these Doctors get their experience? Will Doctors prescribe Cannabis or will they still be influenced by the multi billion dollar Pharmaceutical companies
Coming next: Medical Cannabis patients can’t afford the Government controlled price of their medicine.
